Xi Jia Lou is a traditional Chinese garden architecture featuring a two-story building with a hip-and-gable roof and a double eave roll-up shed top. It was reconstructed in the ninth year of the Tongzhi Emperor’s reign (1870). The name ‘Xi Jia Lou’ was derived from the spectacular view of the setting sun’s afterglow filling the small building, creating an exceptional scene. The building’s roof ridge soars high, and three sides are surrounded by water, with a corridor encircling it, giving it an elegant and graceful appearance. It is open to visitors all year round from 08:30 to 17:00.
