Xi Zi Lake Ecological Tourism Area is a naturally serene ecological home located in the southeast of Tongcheng, named after the children who often play in the lake. The area boasts unique lake and mountain scenery, rich and simple local customs, and abundant water and land resources, offering a return to nature and a beauty that nurtures the soul. The continuous wetlands along the lake host rare birds that migrate and inhabit seasonally, creating a rare wetland landscape. During the lake’s flood season, Xi Zi Dun stands alone, with beautiful islands and fishing villages nearby, where the life of fishermen is full of interest. The towering Song Mountain on the lake’s edge, with its three connected peaks, dense vegetation, and dark-colored rocks, offers a panoramic view of the surrounding lake and mountains when viewed from a height. Walking by the lake, one can enjoy the willows in spring mist and the gathering of gulls and herons, all beautiful sights. Rowing on the lake, the green waves and white waves shimmer like an endless silk. Whether it’s the early morning glow, the setting sun, the twinkling stars, the bright moon, the evening fisherman’s song, or the startled goose formation, the end of the year in the countryside, and the arrival of spring in the water country, all are pleasing to the eye and make one linger. Xi Zi Lake is like a picture with sound, a poem without words, evoking imagination and leaving a lasting aftertaste, forming the ‘Song Lake Fallen Geese’ among the eight scenes of Tongcheng. Not far from Xi Zi Lake, there is a place called Luo Feng Wo, a lakeside attraction known for its ‘thousands of people greeting in the day, ten thousand lights shining at night’. Since Zhang Ying’s father buried his mother here, the place has produced father and son prime ministers, earning the prestigious title of ‘the emperor’s first family in the south’. Legends blur history, but history proves the ancient city’s talent, with its descendants returning home in glory and enjoying the honor of being pillars of the nation.
