[Scenic Area Introduction] The Xisha Mingzhu Lake Scenic Area is located at the southwestern end of Chongming Island, the world’s large estuarine alluvial sand island and China’s third largest island. It is composed of Mingzhu Lake and Xisha Wetland, with a total area of 7.8 square kilometers (11,900 mu). The area was originally a main shipping lane of the southern branch of the Yangtze River and also an area passed by Zheng He, a famous navigator in the Ming Dynasty. As a stop on the international migratory bird route No. 5, the scenic area has unique and beautiful wetland, lake, and forest natural scenery and characteristic land and water sports competitive leisure tourism, making it a well-known national ecological tourism demonstration area.
[Scenic Area Features] The scenic area has beautiful natural scenery and a pleasant environment. The water quality belongs to national surface water category II. Wild goose release, an 8-kilometer runway around the lake, water lure fishing, amphibious vehicles, cruise ships, fish specimens, children’s playgrounds, wetland water forests, wetland crabs, Xisha sunsets, etc. all allow tourists to immerse themselves in it, linger and forget to return, and experience the beauty of charming Mingzhu Lake and the most beautiful Xisha.
