The planning adheres to six key principles: ‘ecological priority, minimal intervention, preservation of the old, cultural emphasis, human-centered, and sustainable development’. It fundamentally focuses on protecting and improving the regional ecological environment. With the essence of Wuchang water town culture and Hong’s culture, four major ‘villages’ (functional areas) have been successively established: Xixi Wuchang Folk Culture Village, Xixi Public Leisure Village, Xixi Agricultural Culture Village, and Xixi Art Collective Village.
The total area covers 3.3 square kilometers, and it now includes famous attractions such as the Hong’s Ancestral Hall, Opera Corridor, and Dongguan Lotus Pond. It is a national wetland park that integrates urban, agricultural, and cultural wetlands. Opening hours are from 08:30 to 17:30 all year round.
