Xizha is the essence of Wuzhen. Although it is a major scenic area like Dongzha, there is no bustling marketplace here as in Dongzha. Everything has been renovated and designed anew. The cafes and bars on the streets and lanes are full of literary and artistic feelings. Taking a night tour on a rowing boat in Xizha is a highly recommended experience. The water town in the south of the Yangtze River with lamp shadows and the sound of oars is extremely charming.

The Xishi River runs through Xizha from east to west. The crisscrossing small rivers divide Xizha into many small islands, and each part is connected by dozens of different ancient stone bridges. The old buildings are built near the water, presenting a typical scenery of small bridges and flowing water in the water towns of the south of the Yangtze River. In addition to the scenic spots that can be visited, there are many exquisite small shops, cafes and bars in the scenic area, which are suitable for strolling slowly and calming down.

You can walk to visit Xizha, or you can take the transportation vehicles or cruise ships in the scenic area as a means of transportation. If it is daytime, walk along Xizha Street on the north bank of the river. Zhaoming Academy is the place where Prince Zhaoming Xiao Tong studied. Now it is a library. You can come here to read for a while, or stick a small note on the message wall at the entrance to leave your mood.

In the Three-Inch Golden Lotus Museum, you can see hundreds of pairs of bound feet shoes. On the east side of the south bank, Xuchang Sauce Garden can be smelled from a long distance. You can see the large open-air vats used for making soy sauce in the yard, or buy some soy sauce as a souvenir. There are many characteristic shops on Nühong Street near Qianshan Bridge that sell some handicrafts such as embroidery and scarves.

Girls may come here to find some small gadgets, and then go to the old post office on the opposite bank to send a postcard with the postmark of the old post office in Wuzhen to relatives and friends. It is both literary and romantic. The night view of Xizha is the reason why many people are fond of this place. At night, the bridges and houses in the ancient town are all lit up. Driving a small boat in the reflection feels very good, and the photos taken also have a unique charm.

In addition, there are some experience projects that can be participated in. On a clear night, old black-and-white movies such as ‘Wandering三毛’ and ‘Tunnel Warfare’ are screened with old-fashioned film in the square of the Grand Theater. Sitting on a bench to watch a movie has a very special feeling. If you are interested in traditional art, you might as well go to the water market to listen to flower-drum opera and listen to storytelling in the theater book arena.
