The memorial hall building is ‘Nanchunhuatang’ built during the Hongzhi period of the Ming Dynasty. In 2003, it was relocated here from its original site in Meilong Dongxiang. The statue in front of the original tomb of Xu Guangqi was also moved to the hall. The main hall is divided into two entrances, including a screen wall, stele corridor, wing rooms, halls, and backyard. The overall layout is in Ming Dynasty style. The exhibition in the memorial hall includes four displays on Xu Guangqi’s life, ‘Complete Treatise on Agriculture’ and ‘Elements of Geometry’, ‘Chongzhen Almanac’ and ‘Xu’s Cooking Words’, and Xu Guangqi and Shanghai. It collects watercolor paintings of Xu Guangqi, Matteo Ricci, Johann Adam Schall von Bell, and Ferdinand Verbiest made by Tushanwan Painting Gallery in 1913. There is also Matteo Ricci’s ‘Complete Map of the World’, which is one of the world maps introduced to China earlier.
