Xuntang Ancient Town, established in 1913, is located in Xuntang Village, Huzhuang Town, Binhu District. At that time, Qian Fengshu, the head of the administrative bureau of Xin’an Township, initiated its construction to facilitate local residents’ shopping. The town was planned along the river, with thriving businesses and shops densely packed. Named after the Xuntang River on which it sits, surrounded by water on three sides, it was one of the historical towns of Wuxi at the time. It served as a crucial transportation hub connecting Huzhuang, Xuelang, Dafu, and Nanfangquan, becoming an essential place for goods trading and personnel gathering in the southern part of Wuxi. Despite the ravages of war, the old street system remains well-preserved. It is also the center for the purchase and processing of silkworm cocoons. The opening hours and business status are subject to the actual opening conditions on the day.
