Xuntang Ancient Town, established in 1913, is located in Xuntang Village, Huaxiang Town, Binhu District. At that time, Qian Fengshu, the head of the New An Township Administration, initiated the construction to address the convenience of local residents’ shopping. The town was planned along the river, with thriving businesses and shops lining up. It was named “Xuntang Town” because it is situated by the Xuntang River, surrounded by water on three sides. As one of the historical towns of Wuxi at that time, it served as a vital transportation hub connecting Huaxiang, Xue Lang, Da Fu, and Nan Fang Quan, becoming a significant center for goods trading and personnel gathering in Southern Wuxi. Despite the turmoil of war, the old market system is still well-preserved. It is also the center for the purchase and processing of silkworm cocoons. The opening hours and business status are subject to the actual conditions on the day.
