The Xuzhou Terracotta Warriors and Horses Museum is a site-specific museum in China. The museum’s expansion and renovation began in October 2004, with an additional area of over 5000 square meters to the original size. The revamped museum not only boasts an architectural style rich in historical and cultural ambiance but also includes a new military exhibition hall and a temporary exhibition hall. The military exhibition hall, spanning more than 500 square meters, primarily displays Han Dynasty weapons, military formations of terracotta warriors and horses, and their evolution. The temporary exhibition hall is mainly used for showcasing ancient artifacts borrowed from other institutions.

The terracotta warriors and horses of Shishan are not only numerous but also diverse, reflecting a wealth of content: including officials with wide sleeves and long robes, guards with headwear holding weapons, warriors with braids carrying long equipment, and soldiers with boots and carrying crossbows and bows, among more than ten different types. The Shishan terracotta warriors and horses are both artistic treasures of the Han Dynasty and historical witnesses to Xuzhou’s status as a military stronghold. They hold immense value for the study of Han Dynasty sculpture art, as well as for the study of Han Dynasty social life, funeral systems, and military organization and tactics. The museum is open all year round from 08:30 to 17:00.
