Yan Mountain Garden, also known as Qi Garden, originally the site of the Southern Song Dynasty’s ‘Hai Ning Temple’, and formerly known as the ‘Miao Lian An’ from the Liang Dynasty, has a history of over a thousand years. It was once the private garden of the Ming Dynasty’s great literary figure and scholar, Wang Shizhen. The current Yan Mountain Garden is reconstructed based on the true outline drawing of ‘Yan Mountain Garden’ by Zhang Shanren from the Ming Dynasty.
In 2003, it underwent renovation and expansion, restoring over 20 scenic spots such as ‘Yan Mountain Hall’, ‘Jia Shu Pavilion’, ‘Nodding Stone’, ‘Fen Sheng Pavilion’, ‘Xiao Fei Hong’, and ‘Nine Bend Bridge’. The park now covers an area of 110 acres and is an important tourist attraction for exploring the ancient charm of Taicang. The garden is rich in cultural and historical sites, with the Mo Miao Pavilion being a must-see spot within Yan Mountain Garden. Other attractions include the Song Dynasty’s ‘Wang Hai Feng’ flower stone relic, the ‘Tong Hai Spring’ carved in the Hongwu year of the Ming Dynasty, and the large ‘Iron Pot’ from the Yuan Dynasty. Open all year round from 7:30 to 17:30.Must Read
