Yan Xishan’s Former Residence

The No. 8 Yihe Road Mansion, one of the three Yan Xishan mansions in Nanjing, is the only one that still stands, constructed in 1936. The entire residence faces south, with the main building being a two-story structure that blends Chinese and Western architectural styles, made of reinforced concrete. The first floor features a continuous corridor resembling a pavilion, while the second floor is an open-air balcony. On April 14, 1949, Li Zongren allocated this residence for Yan Xishan to live in, but Yan only stayed for seven days before hastily departing Nanjing by plane on the afternoon of April 22. The mansion is not currently open to the public and can only be viewed from the outside. The specific operational status is subject to the day’s opening conditions.
