Yan Ziling Fishing Terrace is located 15 kilometers southwest of Tonglu County, by the Fuchun River. It is said to be the place where Yan Ziling, a high-minded man from the Eastern Han Dynasty, lived in seclusion and fished. The main attraction within the scenic area is the boat tour from Qililong to Yan Ziling Fishing Terrace at Longmen Gorge, as well as visiting the small hill where Yan Ziling Fishing Terrace is located to see historical sites and overlook the picturesque landscape of the Fuchun River from the terrace. Upon entering the scenic area, purchase tickets at the visitor center, next to which is the boat dock. Individual tourists may wait longer for the boat, generally every 40 minutes, unless they happen to meet a tour group. If waiting is not preferred, a speedboat is also an option. The boat ride on the river is quite pleasant, reminiscent of entering the ‘Dwelling in the Fuchun Mountains’ painting. After the first leg of the boat trip to Yan Ziling Fishing Terrace, disembark and stay for about 1 hour. At the foot of the hill, there are some historical sites, including an ancient archway inscribed with ‘Yan Ziling Fishing Terrace’, which often appears in tourists’ photos. Additionally, there are attractions such as Yan’s Temple and the World’s Nineteenth Spring to visit. There are two paths up the hill, east and west; the east path is lined with a large number of stone tablets forming a tablet corridor. If you cannot understand the inscriptions, you can hire a guide at the place where you disembark. Following the forest path up the hill, surrounded by dense bamboo forests, the hill is small, and it takes only 15 minutes to reach the summit. The fishing terrace at the top of the hill is divided into the East Terrace and West Terrace; the East Terrace is said to be the place where Yan Ziling lived in seclusion and fished, while the West Terrace is where Xie Ao cried and offered sacrifices to Wen Tianxiang. Both places are excellent viewing platforms, overlooking the scenery of Longmen Gorge on the Fuchun River. If you do not wish to climb the hill, sitting in the teahouse by the river at the foot of the hill, drinking tea, and enjoying the scenery is also quite pleasant; just be mindful of the boat schedule. On the return boat trip, the boat will stop at the Diaoyu Island opposite the departure dock. The landscape on the small island is mostly newly man-made, featuring a tall arched bridge and a tower next to it. The tower is a place for burning incense and worshiping Buddha, where someone may offer free red ribbons to everyone, then guide you to worship Guanyin, pray for blessings, light lamps, etc., and finally suggest that you can give donations ‘as you wish’. The next attraction is the Jiangnan Longmen Bay, where you can see attractions such as the Tang Pine Welcoming Guests by boat from the dock, as well as water entertainment and catering, all of which require additional payment. If not interested, you can also take the boat back from the Diaoyu Island dock, not following the main group is also feasible.
