The Yancheng Art Museum is located at No. 12 Xindu Road, Yandu District, Yancheng City. It is a professional institution engaged in art exhibitions, creations, research, collections, and social public cultural services. It is under the Yancheng Municipal Bureau of Culture, Radio, Television and Tourism. In December 1984, the Yancheng Compilation Committee approved the establishment of the Yancheng Calligraphy and Painting Academy. In 2019, with the consent of the Yancheng Compilation Committee, the sign of ‘Yancheng Art Museum’ was added to the Yancheng Calligraphy and Painting Academy. The Yancheng Art Museum was established and officially opened to the public free of charge in September 2019. The Yancheng Art Museum is located in the Chengnan Park on the north side of Julong Lake. It is a ‘city living room’ for leisure, communication, and viewing. It covers an area of 103 mu and has a total construction area of 35,000 square meters. There are five exhibition halls of different sizes. It is a large-scale comprehensive urban art museum integrating exhibition halls, academic lecture halls, multi-function halls, public aesthetic education spaces, tourist service centers, parking lots, and commercial centers. According to the museum management concept of ‘Art makes a city beautiful’, the Yancheng Art Museum takes ‘focusing on the contemporary era while taking into account history, based in Yancheng, facing the whole country, and serving society’ as its purpose. It adheres to the combination of contemporary art and traditional art, local culture and international trends, and public welfare and commerciality. It is committed to recording and presenting the diversity, richness, and contemporaneity of Yancheng art, highlighting the display of interdisciplinary and cross-media artistic and cultural achievements, and starting mutual learning and dialogue among diverse civilizations.
