Located by the Yangcheng Lake in Bacheng Town, Kunshan City, Jiangsu Province, the Yangcheng Lake Tourism and Vacation Leisure Area is renowned for its world-famous Chinese mitten crabs. Among the three peninsulas of Yangcheng Lake, two islands, ‘Beauty’s Leg’ and ‘Lotus Island’, are situated within its territory, making it a popular destination for tourists to experience the pastoral scenery of the Jiangnan region and the pleasure of leisure vacations.
Yangcheng Lake boasts a spring-like climate all year round with clear lake waters. The eastern shoreline stretches for 9.67 kilometers, meandering and picturesque. The lake is known for its clear water Chinese mitten crabs with green backs, white bellies, golden claws, and yellow hairs. The delicacies featuring the ‘Three Treasures of Yangcheng’ (Chinese mitten crabs, shrimp, and mandarin fish) attract numerous food lovers to Bacheng Yangcheng Lake Food Street and the Chinese mitten crab trading market.
There are numerous water-based restaurants on Yangcheng Lake, and it takes only ten minutes by speedboat to reach them. Dining by the lake while enjoying crabs is one of the great pleasures of visiting Yangcheng Lake. The lake is also home to the only remaining ‘Bagua’ (Eight Trigrams) water city site from the Spring and Autumn period in China, as well as the ‘Ancient Eight Scenes’ of Bacheng, both of which are famous worldwide. With its seamless blend of water and sky, villages with white walls and black tiles, small bridges over flowing streams, and the largest freshwater swimming venue and water-themed park in East China, Yangcheng Lake has earned the nickname ‘Oriental Venice’.
