Yangqiao Old Street, also known as Yangqiao Historical and Cultural Street, is located near the Caoqiao Northwest and Yun Village Southwest of Qianhuang Town, Wujin District, Changzhou City, near the Xi-Li River. The protection area extends 18 meters east of Dingjia Pond, along the east bank of Zhujia Creek, at least 18 meters south of Zhang Xianbang, at least 10 meters west of Guanyin Creek, and at least 18 meters north of Mu Zhaiyuan, covering an area of approximately 4 hectares.
Yangqiao Old Street is centered around the ancient Nanyang Bridge and extends along Yangqiao Bang (also known as Zhang Xianbang), rich in the remains and traces of Ming and Qing dynasty architecture, cultural landscapes, and the connotations of revolutionary struggle history. This area is densely populated with more than 10 natural villages, including Zhuangji Village, Qian Zhujia Pond, Hou Zhujia Pond, Dujia Pond, and Dingjia Pond. Within its boundaries, there are several streams such as Yangqiao Bang, Zhujia Bang, Dujia Bang, Guanyin Bang, and Xinjie Bang, with various classical and modern bridges of different shapes and sizes, including Nanyang Bridge, Zhuangji Bridge, Hongqiao, Taiping Bridge (also known as Xie Bridge), Dongyang Bridge, Xinyang Bridge, Xinhongqiao, and Xin Taiping Bridge, built over the clear waters. Many houses are built near the water, creating a picturesque scene of riverside homes and flowing water, embodying the natural landscape of the Jiangnan water town with garden colors and poetic charm.
