The Yangzhou Ancient Canal refers to the section from Zhuyuwan Scenic Area to Gaomin Temple. The main area for tourists to visit is concentrated from the South Gate Pier in Yangzhou urban area to the Bianyimen Square Pier. If you want to visit on foot, it is recommended to walk from He Garden to Dongguan Street. There are not many scenic spots on the sections from South Gate Pier to He Garden and from Dongguan Street to Bianyimen Square Pier. Starting from He Garden not by the canal, walking south to Kangshan Street, then heading east to visit Lu’s Salt Merchant Residence and the adjacent Salt Ancestral Temple. After that, continue eastward to reach Nantong East Road by the canal. Then turn north along Nantong East Road and tour along the west bank of the canal. There is a good green belt by the canal. The green willows brush the water, just like the Jiangnan scenery depicted in ancient poems. When reaching Wu Daotai’s Mansion, you can enter and visit. After visiting, continue northward along the canal. Crossing the Liberation Bridge on Wenchang Middle Road to the east bank of the canal, there is Puhading Garden, the ancient tomb garden of Arabs. Then return to the west bank of the canal and continue northward. Seeing the archway of Dongguan Ancient Ferry means that the Dongguan Street historical block has arrived. Stepping into the city gate to the west and walking on the Dongguan Street paved with stone slabs. There are many shops and Yangzhou特色 restaurants on the street, and there are scenic spots such as Geyuan Garden. Dongguan Street can be visited together with the Dongquanmen historical block 300 meters to the south. The cruise ship on the ancient canal sails from Bianyimen Square Pier to South Gate Pier or vice versa. You can board the ship from both piers. The ticket price is 60 yuan.
