Yanshan Garden, also known as Qiyuan Garden. Its original site was the ‘Haining Temple’ in the Southern Song Dynasty. Its predecessor was the ‘Miaolian Nunnery’ in the Liang Dynasty. It has a history of more than one thousand years. It was originally the private garden of Wang Shizhen, a great writer and literary giant in the Ming Dynasty. The current Yanshan Garden is rebuilt according to the line drawing of ‘Yanshan Garden’ by Zhang Shanren who built gardens in the Ming Dynasty.

In 2003, it was renovated and expanded, restoring more than 20 scenic spots such as ‘Yanshan Hall’, ‘Jia Shu Pavilion’, ‘Nodding Stone’, ‘Fensheng Pavilion’, ‘Xiao Fei Hong’, and ‘Nine-bend Bridge’. The park now covers an area of 110 mu and is an important tourist attraction for exploring the ancient charm of Taicang. There are many cultural and historical sites in the garden. Momei Pavilion is a scenic spot worth seeing in Yanshan Garden.

There are also many scenic spots such as the relic of ‘Wanghai Peak’ of flower stone tribute in the Song Dynasty, the ‘Tonghai Spring’ excavated in the Hongwu year of the Ming Dynasty, and the large ‘iron cauldron’ in the Yuan Dynasty. Opening hours: Open from 7:30 to 17:30 all year round.
