Weizi’s Tomb is on a small hill in the northwest of Weishan Island. The hill is 91.6 meters above sea level. The hill is named after Weizi’s Tomb. The lake is named after the hill, and the county is also named after the hill. Weizi, named Qi, is the eldest son of Emperor Yi of Yin and the half-brother of Emperor Zhou of Yin by the same mother. Weizi is the ancestor of the State of Song. After his death, he was buried on the east mountain of Liuyi (the seat of Liuxian County, now in the West Lake of Weishan Island), that is, on Weishan Island today. His descendants take Yin as their surname and live by the tomb. Qi is the ancestor of Yin. Weizi’s Tomb is circular, 10 meters high and 7.5 meters in bottom diameter. There are four stone tablets in front of the tomb. The main tablet in the middle (2.23 meters high, 0.88 meters wide and 0.18 meters thick) has the inscription ‘Yin Weizi’s Tomb’ written by Kuang Heng, the prime minister of the Han Dynasty. Mei Fu, the captain of Nanchang, wrote the horizontal inscription ‘Benevolence is comparable to Jizi and Bi Gan.’ The words are from ‘The Analects of Confucius. Weizi’: ‘Weizi left. Jizi became a slave. Bi Gan remonstrated and died. Confucius said, ‘There are three benevolent people in Yin.’ The small characters on the back of the tablet are difficult to recognize.
