Yinping Mountain is the highest peak in Chaohu, with an elevation of approximately 508 meters. Surrounded by undulating hills and embraced by nine peaks, it resembles a majestic lion, hence the saying ‘Nine Lions Embrace Yinping’. The mountain boasts secluded valleys, dense forests, coupled with caves and exotic flowers, forming beautiful pictures. The Yinping Peony, a wild white peony, grows on a massive cliff that looks like it has been chopped by an axe, smooth as a screen, and is exceptionally rare in its elegance. The Fairy Cave, located beneath the peony’s cliff, has a winding interior with jagged rocks and stalactites, resembling an underground labyrinth, and is a typical karst cave landscape. The Peony Pavilion on the summit of Moon Mountain is a grand and elegant three-story octagonal structure. Yinping Mountain, one of Chaohu’s higher peaks, is an excellent place for autumn outings, offering views of the Yangtze River to the south and Chaohu Lake with scattered boats to the north. The Longxing Temple on the mountaintop, with its staggered buildings and morning bells and evening drums, is known as ‘Jiangbei Jiuhua’, making it an ideal place for meditation and worship.
