The Yixing Bamboo Sea is located in the southwest of Yixing urban area and spans across three provinces of Jiangsu, Anhui and Zhejiang. This bamboo sea is truly a ‘sea of bamboos’, and the scene is magnificent. In spring, the Yixing Bamboo Sea is vividly green and lovely. After the spring rain, there is a unique artistic conception of ‘after the fresh rain on the empty mountain’. In summer, the成片 of bamboo forests bring coolness. The temperature is much lower than that in the city and it is a famous summer resort. The scenic area has only one gate. After entering, follow the path and walk forward. The first scenic spot you see is Mirror Lake. The surface of Mirror Lake reflects the surrounding green bamboos and green mountains. In the lake, there lives the peach blossom jellyfish known as the ‘living fossil’. There is a jellyfish pavilion on the east side of the lake for watching jellyfish. On the west side of the lake, there are swaying cable bridges, Jizhao Temple, thousand-year-old ancient ginkgo and other scenic spots. After visiting Mirror Lake, taking the cable car and hiking need to ‘split into two routes’. Taking the cable car and going to the left, you can reach the upper station in a few minutes. Hiking and going to the right, it takes about 20 minutes to reach the ‘seabed’, which means the ‘bottom of the bamboo sea’, and then you can start climbing. On the cable car, you can overlook the bamboo sea from a high altitude, and there is a feeling like a great hero in a martial arts film using lightness kung fu and speeding on the bamboo forest with the tips of his feet. After getting off the cable car, you need to climb a short distance to the top of the mountain. At the Lingyun Pavilion on the top of the mountain, you can climb high and enjoy the view. Standing here and looking down at the bamboo forests all over the mountains, when the mountain wind blows, the swaying bamboo forests are like the undulating waves of the sea, and Mirror Lake is inlaid in it like a piece of emerald. Interestingly, looking north is the territory of Yixing, Jiangsu. Looking west is the territory of Xuancheng, Anhui. Looking south is the territory of Huzhou, Zhejiang. The closer to the foot of the mountain on the way down the mountain, the larger the stream accompanying the roadside is. When you reach the ‘seabed’ at the foot of the mountain, you can see a stone engraved with ‘the source of Taihu Lake’ on the side. Under the stone is a pool of water, which is very clear. The spring water on the mountain flows into Taihu Lake, so it is named ‘the source of Taihu Lake’. Outside the scenic area, there are some farmhouse inns. The specialty dishes made by farmhouse inns are all related to bamboo shoots and you can taste them.
