Yixing National Forest Park is located in the southwest of Yixing City, at the junction of Jiangsu, Zhejiang and Anhui provinces. It has a total area of 3400 hectares and is divided into two major parts: Gaoshan in the south and Tongguanshan in the north. The mountain range belongs to the remaining vein of Tianmu Mountain. The main peak, Tongguanshan, has an altitude of 521 meters and is the second highest peak in southern Jiangsu.
There are undulating mountains, crisscross ravines and gurgling streams in the territory. Due to the influence of subtropical climate and strengthened protection, the forest coverage rate reaches 92%, and wild animal and plant resources are very rich. Yixing Forest Farm (Yixing National Forest Park) is nearly 15 kilometers away from Yixing urban area. It was founded in March 1950. The total area of the whole farm is 3273 hectares, of which the forest land area is 3191 hectares, and the forest coverage rate is 97%. The forest is dense and the vegetation is rich. There are 164 families and 491 genera, belonging to the zonal vegetation in the northern fringe of subtropical zone. There are 398.47 hectares of Pinus elliottii, 350.42 hectares of Cunninghamia lanceolata, 210.68 hectares of Pinus thunbergii, 1016.43 hectares of Pinus massoniana, 31.93 hectares of Quercus, 671.55 hectares of Phyllostachys pubescens, 18. 13 hectares of light miscellaneous bamboo, 219.89 hectares of miscellaneous broad-leaved trees and 225.58 hectares of others. The wild animal resources are rich, with about 200 species. In 1992, with the consent of the Ministry of Forestry, a national forest park was established. There are provincial-level Xiaoheigou and Longchi nature reserves, Jiangsu Pumped Storage Power Station and many historical and cultural landscapes in the park.
