Yixing National Forest Park is located in the southwest of Yixing City, at the junction of Jiangsu, Zhejiang, and Anhui provinces, covering a total area of 3,400 hectares, divided into two major blocks: southern Gaoshan and northern Tongguan Mountain. The mountain range is part of the Tianmu Mountain’s extension, with the main peak Tongguan Mountain reaching an altitude of 521 meters, making it the second highest peak in southern Jiangsu. The park features undulating mountains, crisscrossing ravines, and babbling streams.
Due to the influence of the subtropical climate and enhanced protection, the forest coverage rate has reached 92%, and the wild flora and fauna resources are extremely rich. Yixing Forest Farm (Yixing National Forest Park) is approximately 15 km away from Yixing city center and was established in March 1950. The park currently covers a total area of 3,273 hectares, with 3,191 hectares of forest land and a forest coverage rate of 97%. The forest is dense and rich in vegetation, with 164 families, 491 genera, and is characterized by the vegetation of the northern fringe of the subtropical zone. It includes 398.47 hectares of foreign pines, 350.42 hectares of Chinese firs, 210.68 hectares of black pines, 1,016.43 hectares of masson pines, 31.93 hectares of oaks, 671.55 hectares of bamboo, 18.13 hectares of miscellaneous bamboo, 219.89 hectares of mixed broadleaf trees, and 225.58 hectares of other types of vegetation. The park boasts a rich variety of wildlife resources, with over 200 species. In 1992, the park was approved by the State Forestry Administration to become a National Forest Park. It contains Jiangsu provincial-level Xiaoheigou and Longchi nature reserves, Jiangsu pumped-storage power station, and numerous historical and cultural landscapes, making it a rich tourist destination with excellent investment conditions and environment.
