The Yiyang Reclining Buddha is located in Anjia Village, Longmenyan, Yiyang County, Shangrao City. The reclining Buddha is 416 meters in length and has a height difference of 68 meters. It is carved by taking advantage of the mountain terrain. The natural mountain body shows the shocking artistic charm of the Nirvana group picture of Sakyamuni. The cave at the bottom of the mountain is said to have been carved by the god Yu. It is named Longmenyan because the stone bones are coiled like a giant dragon. In the late Ming and early Qing dynasties, the monk Shangxiong built a temple according to the cave, which was called Longmenyan Temple. During the Qianlong period, the county magistrate He Shan renamed it as ‘Tiancheng Temple’, meaning ‘naturally formed’. Entering from the natural bridge opening, one is suddenly in a Buddhist realm. Wang Du, the magistrate of Yiyang County in the Qing Dynasty, erected a plaque saying ‘Flying Yu Tracks’. In the scenic area, the Danxia mountain body undulates continuously, crisscrosses, and the gullies are continuously filled with water. The lake surrounds the mountain wall, and the mountain bones meander in the water. It has the characteristics of ninety-nine bays and thirty-six heavens, and is known as the ‘water maze’.
