Yuantong Temple, recognized as a AAA tourist attraction by the Jiangsu Provincial Tourism Bureau in 2010, was historically known as ‘Yuantong An’. It was founded at the end of the Tang Dynasty and flourished during the Ming and Qing Dynasties, experiencing several periods of rise and fall. According to the elderly locals, traces of the temple and an were still visible at the beginning of the liberation period, commonly referred to as ‘Ten Sceneries’. Devotees gather here to burn incense and worship Buddha on the first and fifteenth days of the lunar month, as well as during the Buddha’s birthday. The temple is open from 07:30 to 16:30 all year round.
