Yuantong Temple was rated as a AAA tourist attraction by Jiangsu Tourism Bureau in 2010. Historically known as ‘Yuantong Nunnery’, it was built in the late Tang Dynasty and flourished in the Ming and Qing Dynasties. During this period, it experienced several rises and falls. According to local elders, there were still traces of temples and nunnery at the beginning of liberation, commonly known as ‘Ten Sceneries’. Believers gather here to burn incense and worship Buddha on the 1st and 15th day of each lunar month and during Buddhist festivals. Opening hours: Open all year round from 07:30 to 16:30.
