Originating from Hanfu Mountain, the fortifications stretch along the ridge to the north side of the main peak of Niushou Mountain, spanning a total length of 4,200 meters. The well-preserved sections of the ramparts are 2.5 meters wide at the base and 1 meter high, with orderly stone stacking. In the fourth year of the Jianyan period of the Southern Song Dynasty (1130 AD), Yue Fei set an ambush on Niushou Mountain. His troops, known as the Yue Family Army, used stones from the local area to construct defensive works and launched a surprise attack on the Jin troops. Following the great victory at Niushou Mountain, they pursued the enemy, driving the Jin troops across the river and reclaiming Jiankang (present-day Nanjing). The site is open all year round and is accessible 24 hours a day.
