Yunhu Tourist Resort is located in the southwest of Yixing City, consisting of five parts: the reservoir scenic area, Buddhist cultural area, holiday service area, pastoral scenery area, and rural customs area. The so-called Yunhu, in fact, is the former Hengshan Reservoir, situated at the border between Changzhou and Yixing. Hengshan Reservoir, which is close to Tianmu Lake, has long served as a water source for the residents of Yixing before being renamed Yunhu. The ecological environment of Yunhu Tourist Resort is excellent, boasting a beautiful lake view that rivals Tianmu Lake, vast tea fields, and wetland parks. Visiting Yunhu during springtime is truly a fitting experience.
Yunhu is rich in water resources and has picturesque scenery. The islets in the lake are surrounded by water, with egrets flying around and green trees encircling the islands, creating an incredibly beautiful scene. It is a rare paradise in the Jiangnan region. Currently, the Daguo Chan Temple in the Buddhist cultural area has taken shape, with tens of thousands of acres of bamboo and tea gardens, along with numerous precious trees, forming the main body of the pastoral scenic area. The Daguo Temple by Yunhu is a Zen Linji school venue. It was founded by Zen master Zhining during the Southern Song Dynasty’s Xian Chun period, and it has a history of about 700 years. The 48th generation disciple of the Linji school, Master Xingyun, crossed the sea to Taiwan and founded the Fo Guang Shan. After returning to Yixing, he revitalized his ancestral temple and renovated the Daguo Temple, which has now become a major destination for Buddhist exchanges and cultural tourism between Taiwan and the international community. The resort is open all year round, accessible 24/7.Yunhu Scenic Area
