The Yunqi Bamboo Path is located at the southern foot of Wuyun Mountain in the southwest of the West Lake Scenic Area. It is a park in a mountain col. It has a beautiful bamboo sea and is a place for seclusion and tranquility. According to legend, in ancient times, colorful clouds gathered in the col, hence the name. It is famous for its coolness and tranquility. Traveling here in midsummer can better appreciate its sense of greenness, coolness, silence and elegance.
Entering the scenic area, a long path winds and extends deep. The dense bamboo on both sides surrounds the road. The gurgling brook flows down along the path. When you walk on the stone path shaded by green bamboos, the light shines on the road through the bamboo leaves, with golden spots. A few bird songs make the mountain scenery even more secluded. In the scenic area, there are not only the ancient Yunqi Temple, but also scenic spots such as Huiyan Peak, Baodaolong Peak, Biguan Peak, and a thousand-year-old liquidambar tree that requires three people to encircle. This is also the filming location of the movie ‘Crouching Tiger, Hidden Dragon’. At the entrance of the Yunqi Bamboo Path, there is a stele pavilion with the four characters ‘Yunqi Bamboo Path’. The bluestone slabs in the center of the bamboo path are separated from the pebbles on both sides by black bricks. According to legend, Emperor Kangxi and Emperor Qianlong of the Qing Dynasty both visited Yunqi. At that time, the center was used as the imperial road for Emperor Kangxi and Emperor Qianlong to walk on. Beside the path, there are pavilions such as Xixin Pavilion, Sanju Pavilion, Huilong Pavilion, Yuexing Pavilion, Huangzhu Pavilion, and Yuyu Pavilion. At the end of the bamboo path, there are rows of ancient trees. There are pavilions for rest and tea rooms for a short sit and tea tasting. Opening hours: Open all year round from 07:00 to 17:00.
