Established in 1980, ‘Gokurakuyu Co., Ltd.’ is one of the representatives of Japanese bathing culture and a listed company operating large-scale onsen clubs in Japan. The company currently operates 37 clubs in Japan (22 directly managed and 15 franchised). Benefiting from the company’s positive development, ‘Gokurakuyu (Shanghai) Bathing Co., Ltd.’ was officially registered in Shanghai in 2011, focusing on bathing, recuperation, and catering services. As the flagship transnational onsen club of the chain, Gokurakuyu Biyun Onsen Club started its trial operation on February 6, 2013, in the Biyun 90 Commercial Center, Pudong New Area, Shanghai. The bath facilities include daily changing baths, massage baths, electric baths, slimming baths, cold baths, carbonic baths, silk water baths, open-air pot baths, and open-air baths; additionally, there are tower saunas and salt釜 baths. Gokurakuyu conducts hourly water quality monitoring. High-concentration carbonic springs, which have recently attracted global attention, are also one of the popular hot springs in Japan. Carbonic springs are hot springs with dissolved carbon dioxide and are considered one of the rare high-quality hot springs. Daily changing baths feature themes such as rose, lavender, Noboribetsu, ginger, and Kusatsu, which are changed according to the time and season, offering you a diverse Japanese onsen experience throughout the seasons.
Rock Bath: Gokurakuyu has prepared seven rock bath rooms with different effects. These include Kunishamon (exclusively for women), Benzai, Juro (constructed with amethyst), Hotei, and Ebisu. Rock baths are a type of thermotherapy where you lie on heated rocks or natural minerals, warming the body from the inside out, earning the title of ‘bath without water.’ Additionally, there are two unique saunas in Shanghai, Fukurokuju and Daikoku (with temperatures around 65-72 degrees Celsius), which are very healthy bathing methods.
Manga Lounge: Gokurakuyu Biyun Onsen Club provides over 10,000 imported Japanese manga volumes and more than 2,000 Chinese manga volumes for consumers to enjoy in the resting area. The club is open all year round from 10:00 to 02:00, with the restaurant starting business at 11:00 (food, beauty, and massage orders stop at 24:00).
