The Zhangjiagang Phoenix Mountain Scenic Area is located in the southeastern suburbs of Zhangjiagang City. It includes scenic spots such as Phoenix Mountain, Yongqing Temple, Heyang Folk Song Museum, and Tianzhuang Ancient Street. The main peak of Phoenix Mountain, the source of the scenic area’s name, is 86 meters above sea level. If you are fast, it only takes 20 minutes to climb to the top. This is not the highlight of the scenic area.

Several important scenic spots are scattered at the foot of the mountain and are relatively far from each other. Self-driving tours are recommended. Climbing Phoenix Mountain is secondary. The peach orchard to the southwest of the main peak is its attractive place. In spring, you can enjoy a large area of peach blossoms. In July and August, you can pick juicy peaches. Phoenix juicy peaches have thin skins, large fruits, and are rich in juice and sweet in taste.

They are a business card of the scenic area. Yongqing Temple at the southwestern foot of Phoenix Mountain has a long history. However, what we see now is a modern reconstruction. The Wenchang Pavilion at a high place in the temple is a landmark building. It is said that candidates for college entrance examinations and senior high school entrance examinations will come here to pray for blessings. About 450 meters northwest of Yongqing Temple is the Heyang Folk Song Museum, which was built to display folk songs created by people in the Heyang area.

There are stages, pavilions, and small bridges and flowing water inside. It imitates the appearance of Suzhou gardens and has a nice scenery. A ecological park is built around Phoenix Lake next to the Heyang Folk Song Museum. The environment is beautiful and you can take a walk. Tianzhuang Ancient Street is located 3 kilometers east of Phoenix Mountain. It is not an ancient town. The name of the scenic spot honestly reflects that it is just a street.

The water town buildings with white walls and black tiles are spread out along the river, suitable for photography enthusiasts. Tianzhuang Ancient Street is divided into North Street and South Street. Most of the ancient buildings are concentrated on North Street, such as the Zhuangyuan Mansion and Yang’s Filial Piety Archway in the Qing Dynasty. There is the old Yang’s residence on South Street. However, the door is generally closed and you can only look at it from outside.

If you want to relax, you can go 2.5 kilometers north along Jingu Road on the west side of Heyang Folk Song Museum to Jinfenghuang Hot Spring to soak in hot springs.

Open all year round and open all day.
