The Zhangjiagang Phoenix Mountain Scenic Area is located in the southeastern suburbs of Zhangjiagang City. It includes scenic spots such as Phoenix Mountain, Yongqing Temple, Heyang Folk Song Museum, and Tianzhuang Ancient Street.
The source of the scenic area’s name is Phoenix Mountain. The main peak of Phoenix Mountain is 86 meters above sea level. If you are fast, it only takes 20 minutes to climb to the top. However, this is not the highlight of the scenic area. Several important scenic spots are scattered at the foot of the mountain and are relatively far from each other. Self-driving tours are recommended.
Climbing Phoenix Mountain is secondary. The peach orchard to the southwest of the main peak is its attractive place. In spring, you can enjoy a large area of peach blossoms. In July and August, you can pick juicy peaches. Phoenix juicy peaches have thin skins, large fruits, and are rich in juice and sweet in taste. They are a business card of the scenic area.
Yongqing Temple at the southwestern foot of Phoenix Mountain has a long history. However, what we see now is a modern reconstruction. The Wenchang Pavilion at a high place in the temple is a landmark building. It is said that candidates for college entrance examinations and high school entrance examinations will come here to pray.
About 450 meters northwest of Yongqing Temple is the Heyang Folk Song Museum. It was built to display folk songs created by people in the Heyang area. Inside the museum, there are stages, pavilions, small bridges and flowing water.

A ecological park, which imitates the appearance of Suzhou gardens and offers a nice view, is built around Phoenix Lake next to the Heyang Folk Song Museum. The environment is beautiful, making it an ideal place for a walk.
Located 3 kilometers east of Phoenix Mountain, Tianzhuang Ancient Street is not an ancient town but rather a street with a name that honestly reflects its nature. The water town buildings with white walls and black tiles are spread out along the river, making it a suitable spot for photography enthusiasts.
Tianzhuang Ancient Street is divided into North Street and South Street. Most of the ancient buildings, such as the second-place scholar’s mansion and Yang’s Filial Piety Archway from the Qing Dynasty, are concentrated on North Street. On South Street, there is an old Yang’s house. However, generally, the doors are closed, and visitors can only view these structures from the outside.
For relaxation, head 2.5 kilometers north along Jingu Road on the west side of the Heyang Folk Song Museum to Jinfenghuang Hot Spring, where you can soak in the hot springs.
The opening hours are all year round, with the location open all day.
