Zhangshan Grand Canyon, also known as the Valley of Great Men, is located 22 kilometers east of Jixi County. It is said that Xuanyuan Huangdi once came here with Rongchengzi and Fuqiu Gong to collect herbs and make elixirs. There are still relics such as the tomb of the emperor and the tomb of the prime minister in the mountain. Therefore, Zhangshan was called Santianzidu and Sanwang Mountain in ancient times.
In the Spring and Autumn Period, Wu and Yue took this as the boundary. In the scenic area, a stream accompanies the canyon all the way. You can play in the water and see various strange stones. There are many varieties of vegetation and it is a natural oxygen bar. There is only one footpath in Zhangshan Grand Canyon. Just walk all the way to the end and then return along the same route. You can also take a sightseeing car at the entrance of the scenic area to reach it. The one-way fare is 5 yuan. The sightseeing car travels on the road and there are few scenic spots to see along the way. The scenic spots are all beside the footpath. If you want to play more easily, it is recommended to take a sightseeing car up the mountain and then walk down along the footpath. Inside the canyon, the flowing water gurgles. From the entrance to the depths, the scenic spots known as the ‘four wonders’ are successively the stone of great men, blooming on the crown, Baizhang Rock, and Hulu Pond. Blooming on the crown is a strange pine tree more than 400 years old growing on the top of a rock. Baizhang Rock is a single huge rock 460 meters high, like a huge bell covering the ground. The rock surface is almost vertical and smooth as a mirror. Hulu Pond is a pond in the shape of a gourd. It is deep in the scenic area. Nearby there is a waiting room, which is the terminal of the sightseeing car. Huizhou-style villages, Longchuan, Taiji Lake Village and Zhangshan Grand Canyon are on the same line and all are in the east of Jixi County. Starting from Jixi, first go to Longchuan, then to Taiji Lake Village, and then to Zhangshan Grand Canyon. You can visit them all at once. Opening hours: Open all year round from 08:00 to 17:00.
