Zhiyun Pagoda is a prominent structure at Langshan, located behind the ‘Mahavira Hall’ of Guangjiao Temple on Langshan. Constructed during the Taiping Xingguo era of the Northern Song Dynasty (976-983 AD), the pagoda stands 35 meters tall and features five levels with four sides, making it one of the three towers in Nantong (the other two being Wenfeng Pagoda and Guangxiao Pagoda within the city).
Behind the pagoda lies the Langshan Great Saint Hall. An ancient poem praises it as follows: ‘The empty pagoda supports the azure sky, five feet and five inches from the heavens; the stars and constellations in the sky, all can be counted clearly.’
It is open year-round from 7:30 AM to 4:30 PM; however, specific business hours are subject to the daily opening status.
