Zhuangyuan Pavilion is a scenic spot located within the Tianmu Lake Scenic Area, situated on the Huli Mountain Peninsula that extends into the lake. It stands three stories high and features an antique appearance. Upon ascending the pavilion, visitors can enjoy a panoramic view of the beautiful lake scenery of Tianmu Lake.
The pavilion is themed around the ancient imperial examination culture, with the names, hometowns, and the years they topped the imperial examinations of 736 zhuangyuan from the Sui Dynasty to the Qing Dynasty engraved on rosewood panels.
Inside the pavilion, there is a bronze dragon pillar known as the Zhuangyuan Pillar or Longmen Pillar, which stands at 2.28 meters tall and weighs 680 kilograms. Its prototype is the Shi Guan Shi from Chang’an City during the Tang Dynasty. The dragon totem on the copper pillar is majestic and awe-inspiring, giving a sense of superiority.
