Zhucheng, historically known as Mizhou, is rich in dinosaur fossil resources and has been named the ‘Dinosaur Capital of China’. To date, over 30 dinosaur fossil sites have been discovered in Zhucheng, yielding more than ten new dinosaur species, including the ‘Giant Shandong Dragon’, ‘Huge Zhucheng Dragon’, ‘Zhucheng China Ceratopsian’, ‘Unexpected Zhucheng Ceratopsian’, ‘Giant Zhucheng Tyrannosaurus’, and ‘Zhucheng Sit-down Ceratopsian’. The world’s largest dinosaur fossil group and footprint group have been found here, earning the praise of paleontologists as the ‘World Dinosaur Fossil Treasure House’ and being recognized by UNESCO experts as a rare global geological wonder.
Leveraging the awe-inspiring dinosaur fossil resources, Zhucheng has developed the ‘One Square and Four Pavilions’ five major scenic areas (Zhucheng Dinosaur Museum, Zhucheng China Tyrannosaurus Pavilion, Zhucheng Dragon Cube Exhibition Hall, Zhucheng China Ceratopsian Pavilion, and Zhucheng China Ankylosaurus Pavilion) with the theme of ‘geological science popularization and cultural tourism’. It offers travel products that focus on exploring the Cretaceous dinosaur world, experiencing the primitive life of dinosaurs, feeling the sacred and magical presence of dinosaurs, and appreciating the charm of dinosaur culture, forming a distinctive and charming ‘Dinosaur Tour’ in China.
