Nestled by the Gaoyou Lake, Zhuhu Town in Yangzhou is bordered by the Beijing-Hangzhou Grand Canal and the Beijing-Shanghai Expressway to the east. It is a unique wetland park in China that integrates homestay wetlands, retirement wetlands, agricultural wetlands, and garden wetlands. In spring, visitors can enjoy the winding paths in search of plum blossoms, with willows brushing against a hundred flowers.
During summer, the park offers the spectacle of red lotus flowers and clear waters, with koi carps creating ripples.
In autumn, the scenery changes to a reduction of green and thinning of red, with reed flowers resembling flying snow.
Winter presents a view of snow reflecting off the wetlands, with myriad birds soaring above.
Zhuhu Town is composed of seven major scenic areas: the Upper Wharf Fisherman’s Joy Scenic Area, the Dream Water Town Scenic Area, the Joyful Town Scenic Area, the Ink-Wash Residential Scenic Area, the Qionghua Cultural Plaza Scenic Area, the Zhuhu Wetland Scenic Area, and the Gaoyou Lake Water Sightseeing Scenic Area. It encompasses seven major thematic cultural elements: ‘joy, seclusion, liveliness, commonality, elegance, tranquility, and wilderness’.
