Zhujiajiao Ancient Town is located in Qingpu District, Shanghai, close to the Dianshan Lake Scenic Area, and is a typical Jiangnan water town with a crisscrossing network of waterways amidst its streets and alleys, creating an extremely elegant environment. The town boasts gardens, historical sites, and numerous traditional snacks and boutique shops, making it the premier destination for visiting ancient towns around Shanghai.

Upon entering the town from the south entrance, one will first arrive at Zhuxi Garden and the Humanistic Art Museum. Zhuxi Garden is a small and exquisite garden that is now open to the public for free. The Humanistic Art Museum is a uniquely designed modern white building that records the local history and culture of Zhujiajiao through oil paintings and sculptures.

Famous local delicacies such as Auntie’s Zongzi, Ancient Town Tangyuan, and Sauced Pig Trotters, as well as various exquisite pastries, can be enjoyed here. Across the river is Caohuo Street, where attractions such as the Qing Dynasty Post Office, Wang Chang Memorial Hall, City God Temple, and Yuanjin Zen Temple are distributed along the river, available for visitors to explore. In addition to these attractions, there are many boutique shops along the street, including the famous Cat’s Sky City Bookstore. On the right side of North Street, a large bridge spans the main waterway, known as Zhujiajiao’s famous Fàngshēng Bridge.

Crossing Fàngshēng Bridge leads to the opposite bank of Caogang River, where there are still numerous small waterways, riverside boutique shops, and various snacks.
