**Our Experience:**
We stayed at a newly opened hotel in January, and our experience was nothing short of delightful. The hotel manager, Mao Mao, welcomed us warmly on the day of our check-in, which coincided with a corporate event. Due to the noise from the front desk and restaurant being connected, Mao Mao apologized and generously upgraded us to a loft starlight suite.
Despite the cloudy weather, we were pleasantly surprised by the view of the Disney fireworks display from our room’s terrace at eight o’clock. The hotel’s atmosphere was lively as the corporate guests celebrated their event with fireworks in the hotel’s backyard, a treat for our children as fireworks are banned in the city.
**Culinary Delights and Personalized Service:**
Our waiter, Fei Fei, knocked on our door late at night to serve a delightful snack of local Pudong meatballs and dates, which were especially enjoyable given my fondness for meat. Fei Fei also assisted us in scheduling breakfast for the next day.
**Unexpected Entertainment:**
The next day, we were saddened by the news of Disney’s temporary closure, leaving us to explore the hotel’s facilities with the children. The hotel offered slides, sandboxes, and swings. To our surprise, Manager Mao Mao provided beach toys and vegetables, engaging the children with sand, slides, and feeding rabbits until lunchtime.
**Lunch and Local Flavors:**
Lunch was particularly enjoyable, with Mao Mao informing us that the chicken soup was made from live chickens sourced directly from local farmers, adding a touch of authenticity to our dining experience.
Overall, our stay was filled with unexpected surprises and personalized service that made our family trip memorable. The day began with disappointment, but it ended on a joyful note. The children had several bowls, and the most noteworthy dish was the locally grown vegetables. These were freshly picked from the hotel’s own land and even the meat-loving children found them delicious.
On the third day, during breakfast, Mao Mao regretfully informed us that due to government pandemic control measures, the hotel had to close, and we had to check out. Mao Mao apologized continuously, and as we left, he even gifted us a bag of vegetables.
The children made a promise to return and stay together again in the future.
