Zongzhao Garden is located at the intersection of Yeting Road and Anyi Road in the center of Baoying County. It was originally a private garden of Qiao Lai, a successful candidate in the imperial examinations in the Kangxi period of the Qing Dynasty. It is famous for its lotus scenery. Before the Ming Dynasty, this place was a pond, connecting to the Songjing River in the south and reaching Songgang in the north. In the middle of the Ming Dynasty, the Hu family, a prominent clan in Baoying, built Huachuan Bieye Villa here, which was abandoned in the late Ming Dynasty. In 1688, the 27th year of the Kangxi period of the Qing Dynasty, Qiao Lai built Zongzhao Garden on this old site. This garden is made of piled earth into mountains and planted trees into forests. It shows greatness in smallness and has much wild charm. There are many scenic spots such as pavilions and towers. It has attracted many scholars and celebrities to compose poems and odes, and they highly praise this quiet and elegant waterscape garden. Now that the surrounding wall has been removed and it is used as a citizen park, the overall style is still that of the Qing Dynasty. As it is close to a commercial street, the commercial atmosphere in the park is quite strong.
