Zoumatang Ancient Village

Zoumatang Ancient Village is an ancient village worth visiting around Ningbo. This small village has produced 76 successful candidates in the highest imperial examinations since the Northern Song Dynasty. The village has retained a large number of Ming and Qing dynasty architectures worthy of savoring. Many carvings in unexpected places are very outstanding and are also one of the highlights of the village. Here has not been fully developed yet and preserves simple folk customs. When you come to Zoumatang, the first thing that catches your eye is a lotus pond at the entrance of the village. When the lotus blooms in summer, the green leaves and red flowers set off the white walls and black tiles in the background, just like an ink painting. There are hidden stone paths in the lotus pond. Tourists can walk in and take pictures standing among the layered lotus leaves, which is quite artistic. Entering the village, horse-head walls like masts and sails and Ming and Qing dynasty architectures with high cornices can always attract a lot of attention. Another praiseworthy thing is the crisscrossing water system in the village, which can resist drought and fire. Since there are relatively few tourists here all year round, it is very likely that some old houses will be closed. However, exploring along the stone roads of the ancient village is often full of surprises. For example, some old houses still have early slogans on their gates. The intricate patterns carved on the stone windows are still clearly visible. The old buildings of the ancestral halls also retain their original appearance. If you pay attention to the corners on the roadside, you will find that even the stone benches scattered everywhere are old objects with a long history.

Open all year round and open all day. The specific business status is subject to the opening situation on that day.
