Garden of the Hesperides by Martin Werner
In Greek mythology, the Garden of the Hesperides is a secluded sanctuary where golden apple trees, symbolizing eternal life, grow. These trees lead to abundance, temptation, and immortal beauty. Werner initiates a dance of subject matter, color, and form with the uninhibited stamen and leaves in his work “Huahua.”
Untitled Land by Yan Bo
“Untitled Land” refers to unnamed forms, things, or realms that are difficult to explain with words. The works on display in this exhibition are all titled “Untitled,” which is Yan Bo’s practice of blocking linguistic interference to painting. When a work is given a fixed and unique name, an implicit directionality is already established, often interfering with the instinctive reaction to viewing. Only when words fail to describe can vision become the sole channel for perceiving the work. The “Untitled” works are purely connected to viewing, offering a purified visual language.
