Introduction to the Performance: ‘Peacock’ is a wondrous dance drama that tells a story about nature, life, growth, humanity, and love. It surges and flows within me, and is expressed with deep emotion.’ — Yang Liping. ‘Peacock’ is a classic stage image created by the renowned dancer Yang Liping, with a series of works represented by ‘The Spirit of the Peacock’, which has reached a level where the audience believes ‘she is the peacock, and the peacock is her’.
In her pursuit of art, Yang Liping is insatiable. Even after possessing the ‘form’ and ‘spirit’ of the peacock, she is not content; she wants to tell a richer and more profound story about ‘Peacock’. Thus, in 2012, the dance drama ‘Peacock’ was born, which received overwhelming praise and attracted a large audience upon its release. Ten years later, the 2022 version of the dance drama ‘Peacock’ is re-launched with a new stage format, meticulously revised and refined. The 2022 national tour covers 12 cities and 50 performances, with every show selling out and creating a ‘Peacock’ trend nationwide. From 2023 to 2024, ‘Peacock’ will spread its wings again, visiting Beijing, Guangzhou, Shanghai, and over 40 other cities, presenting more than 200 performances and offering audiences an unforgettable feast for the eyes and soul!
