On a golden autumn day in 2024, as the whole country celebrated the National Day, I had the honor of participating in a unique National Day-themed team-building event. This event, titled “Retracing the Long March, Co-creating Red Dreams,” was organized by the Happy Outdoor Base (Orange Garden Store). It was not just a simple outdoor activity; it was a spiritual baptism and a deep remembrance of the fearless spirit of the revolutionary martyrs.

The morning sun gently shone through the sparse clouds, casting a soft light on the open area in front of the Orange Garden Store. A group of colleagues, dressed in camouflage and full of passion, were ready to set off. With the team leader’s command, we embarked on the journey of “Retracing the Long March.” This carefully designed route, although unable to fully replicate the difficulties and dangers of the Red Army’s Long March, allowed us to deeply feel that indomitable spirit of struggle through every obstacle and every rugged section.
Along the way, we encountered the first challenge: making small carts by hand. Under the guidance of the coach, everyone worked together. Some looked for suitable wood and rope, some were responsible for assembly, and others cheered on the side. After some effort, a simple but sturdy small cart was born under our joint efforts. This not only trained our hands-on ability but, more importantly, let us experience the power of teamwork, just as the Red Army soldiers worked together to overcome one seemingly impossible task after another.Red Nazca Giant Painting: Co-creating a historical scroll
In the afternoon, we arrived at another highlight of the event – the creation site of the Red Nazca giant painting. This is a vast open space with several outlines representing key points of the Long March. We divided into several groups, picked up brushes and paint, and began to pour our creativity and sweat on this huge canvas. From crossing the Chishui River four times to crossing the Jinsha River skillfully, from crossing the Dadu River forcefully to crossing the snow-capped mountains and grasslands, every stroke is a tribute to our admiration and remembrance of that history. As the sun set, a vivid red picture unfolded before our eyes, and we couldn’t help but feel proud of our achievements.
Remembering the hardships and appreciating the sweetness: Cherishing the present, grateful for moving forward
At dinner time, we sat together, tasting simple farmhouse dishes, but feeling an unprecedented satisfaction and happiness. The team leader guided us to share our understanding of ‘remembering the hardships and appreciating the sweetness’, and everyone spoke, narrating their own insights and gains. At that moment, we deeply realized that today’s happy life is hard-won, paid for by countless revolutionary martyrs with blood and lives. Therefore, we should cherish the present, remember our original intention, and continue to move forward.
Red Song Music Concert: Resounding the Strongest Melodies of the Era
As evening falls, the Happy Outdoor Base Camp (Tangerine Orchard Branch) is enveloped in laughter and joy.We welcomed the climax of this event—the Red Song Music Concert. Familiar red songs echoed through the night sky, their passionate melodies and heartfelt singing taking us back to the tumultuous era of war. Everyone took to the stage, expressing their love and blessings for the motherland through song. At that moment, we were all the brightest stars.
With the conclusion of the concert, this National Day themed team-building activity came to a successful end. However, the admiration for the revolutionary martyrs, the profound understanding of teamwork, and the appreciation and gratitude for our happy lives will forever remain in our hearts. In the days to come, we will carry forward with this valuable experience and insight, contributing our strength to the prosperity and strength of our country.
