The Wenchang Emperor of Xinzhuang Wenchang Shrine was originally enshrined in the side hall of Ciyou Palace. Later, in 1813 AD during the eighteenth year of Jiaqing reign of the Qing Dynasty, magistrate assistant Fu Duanquan and gentry Chen Shizhang relocated and independently built the shrine. In addition to mainly enshrining the Wenchang Emperor, Kuixing and sages of past literati are also reverently enshrined. The architectural style of Wenchang Shrine is a traditional three-sided courtyard style, mostly decorated with elegant wood art, presenting a simple and elegant style. Xinzhuang is not only an important commercial town, but Wenchang Shrine also represents a prosperous literary atmosphere since the Jiaqing period of the Qing Dynasty. Wenchang Shrine has a history of nearly two hundred years. After many restorations in accordance with the original style, nowadays many students will come here to pay respects before major exams, praying for good results. Opening hours: Open all year round from 8:00 to 18:00.
