The Guantianxia Scenic Area is characterized by religious culture and beautiful lakes and mountains. It is located in Yaocun Township in the southwestern part of Langxi County. The scenic area includes one mountain and two lakes, namely Shifo Mountain, Tianzi Lake and Hongqi Lake. ‘A Buddha supports the clouds, stones embrace the temple; two lakes embrace the moon, water surrounds the mountains.’ The main peak of Shifo Mountain is 353 meters high. The mountain is steep and surrounded by white clouds. Here, there are numerous grotesque rocks in various shapes, known as the ‘Grand View Garden of Grotesque Rocks in southern Anhui’. There are many strange rocks such as the Cloud-Supporting Rock, Golden Turtle Rock, Toad-Croaking Rock, Seven-Zhang Rock, Sword-Testing Rock, Flat Peach Rock, and Moving Rock. The Moving Rock is especially magical. This rock weighs more than thirty tons. It is amazing that it can be moved with a slight push but won’t move again with further pushing, which is truly a ‘unique wonder in the world’. At the top of the mountain stands Huiming Temple. The Maitreya Hall, Great Compassion Tower, Mahavira Hall, Ksitigarbha Hall, Heavenly King Hall, and Arhat Hall are magnificent and grand. It is known as ‘Little Jiuhua’. Tianzi Lake is shaped like the Chinese character ‘天’ (tian) and lies quietly at the foot of Shifo Mountain. The lake surface is clean and beautiful. Occasionally, water birds fly over, making it peaceful and vivid. Fishermen sing in the evening, and the tea island is fragrant. Hongqi Lake is located within Miaoquan Village and Hongqi Village in Yaocun Township. It was built in the winter of 1959. The total storage capacity is 31.8 million cubic meters. It is also the drinking water source for some towns and townships in Xuancheng and Langxi. The mountains and waters depend on each other, presenting a beautiful scenery.
