Dongyan is over 60 meters high. With steep sides on all four sides, it stands like a drum. Because the rock wall is crimson, it is also called Red Stone Tower. There is a poem by ancients: ‘The white sun is close to the mountain, and the magnificent tower stands perilously on the stone. The rosy clouds scatter over thousands of peaks, creating the wonders of Chicheng.’ To reach the top of Red Stone Tower, one needs to be close to the cliff, step on the inclined pedals, hold on to the crevices, and rotate between the stone cracks. Only by passing through two ‘Heavenly Gates’ can one arrive. The top of the rock is wide, covering an area of more than 20 mu. Standing on the top of the rock, one suspects it is a fairyland. The pines are green, the bamboos are emerald, the peach blossoms are pink, and the plums are white. The fallen flowers are in profusion. Looking around, the beautiful scenery of mountains and rivers is in full view. There used to be Dingxiang Courtyard on the top of the rock. Now there is an octagonal pavilion and there are also sun and moon pools. Legend has it that one pool is clear and the other is turbid. Now the moon pool has been destroyed, but the sun pool still exists. It is artificially chiseled, 6 meters long, 4 meters wide, and 2 meters deep. It never dries up all year round.
