Also known as Jingyuan Garden and Yun Family Garden. It was built in the late Ming and early Qing dynasties. It took five years. As it is ‘almost like a garden’, the owner therefore calls this garden ‘Jinyuan’. It is a garden with a very typical Jiangnan style. Although Jinyuan is only a few mu in area, it has ingenious conception and exhausts the principles of painting. The mountains, flower paths, and charming scenery are even more like a lovely small bonsai, concentrating the essence of Jiangnan gardens. The landscapes, flowers and trees, pavilions and terraces in Jinyuan are exquisite and elegant, reflecting the artistic conception of ‘plain words are all flavorful’ everywhere. Looking at the landscaping of the garden again, the layout is unique, simple and generous. Most of the buildings such as pavilions and terraces are built around mountains and water, scattered in an orderly manner, and great attention is paid to the appropriate proportion. The ‘Xiyecao Tang’ in the north is built by the water and is a place for the owner to entertain guests. In the southwest, there are ‘Tianxiang Pavilion’, ‘Anlewo’ and ‘Deyuexuan’ by the water. Going north is ‘Qiushui Pavilion’. Continuing down are ‘Xuzhou’ and ‘Rongxi Residence’. The paths lead back and forth, secluded and natural, extremely embodying the artistic conception of ‘distant mountains and nearby waters form their own charm’. There are 30 sets of famous people’s calligraphy stone tablets embedded in the corridor wall on the east side.
