Located within the Dongzha Scenic Area, Hongyuan Tai Dye House was originally established during the Song and Yuan dynasties. Here, you can witness the traditional process of making blue calico cloth and purchase finished products as souvenirs. The blue and white cloths fluttering in the sun yard are distinctive, and the long strips of fabric are quite spectacular, making them ideal for photography.
Hongyuan Tai Dye House features a layout of shop front and workshop back. The front hall is a store selling finished printed cloth products, while the back hall is a workshop that includes an exhibition hall, a paste-cooking and baking room, a dyeing room, and a sun yard. Although not large in area, it has a strong local flavor. In addition, it is one of the filming locations for the TV series ‘Like Water Years,’ and fans of the show might recall scenes from the series.
