Puzhuangsuo City is located in Pucheng Township, Cangnan County at the junction of Zhejiang and Fujian. It is a famous ancient coastal defense castle building in China. Since the Tang and Song dynasties, it has always been an important place for garrison. In 1384 (the seventeenth year of Hongwu in the Ming Dynasty), it was built to defend against Japanese pirates. The city is backed by mountains and faces the sea.
The south is square and the north is arc-shaped. The plane is in the shape of ’round heaven and square earth’. The perimeter of the city wall is 2400 meters, with a height of 3-7 meters, a bottom width of 6-8 meters, and a top width of 4-7 meters. All are built with strips and blocks in three layers inside and outside respectively, with rammed earth filled in the middle. The three barbicans in the east, south, and west are all square. Except for the west city tower which has been destroyed, the other two city towers still exist. Outside the city, there are enemy areas, moats, stockaded forts, and beacon towers. The streets and alleys in the city have remained unchanged so far. There are more than 30 temples such as the City God Temple and Mazu Temple, as well as many typical courtyard houses in southern Zhejiang and the cornerstone for building the city. It not only provides physical historical materials for the struggle against Japanese pirates in the Ming Dynasty but also is an important place for patriotism education for the broad masses of people. The specific business hours and opening status are subject to the opening situation on the day.Puzhuangsuo City
