The original site of Yao Shi An is located in Changping Warehouse, Chen Jia Bang, 2 miles south of the town, and its construction date is unknown. The main Buddha in the temple is the Medicine Buddha, and the temple originally housed the Buddhist scripture ‘Lotus Sutra’, which was the treasured scroll of the temple. The temple was abandoned in the early Qianlong period, and later, a local Wang family donated land to rebuild it, which was then transformed into a nunnery. The temple enshrined a statue of Lu Chunyang, one of the Eight Immortals, which was demolished in the 1960s. The current Yao Shi An, built in the 1990s, is located to the west of Da Xi Yuan, covering an area of more than 10 acres. The temple consists of a main hall and two side halls, with dozens of Buddha statues, all gilded and very dazzling. The temple is open all year round from Monday to Friday, 08:30 to 17:30.
