Qishan Kelan with the beautiful legend of ‘one day in the mountains, a hundred years in the world’ is one of the eight scenic spots in Laiwu. According to Laiwu County Annals of Jiajing period of Ming Dynasty, ‘During the Jianyuan period of Jin Dynasty, a woodcutter was gathering firewood and saw two people playing chess. One of them gave him a pill. He watched their chess game for a long time until his axe was rusty and rotten. When he returned home, there were no people of his time anymore.’ There is a poem as evidence: ‘Flowing water and floating clouds are different in generations. There is a woodcutter on Qishan. Up to now, the legend of the rotten chess pieces is gone.’ Qishan gets its name from this. The scenic spot is famous for its strange stones and beautiful waters. The main scenic spots are: Yixiantian, Shuanghou Mountain, Laoying Stone, Xuesuo Cave, etc. Qishan has a long cultural history. The cultural landscapes such as the Buddhist Cave and Qishan Temple in Song Dynasty, the Back Palace, Buddha Hall and Xuesuo Stele in Ming Dynasty, and the Anti-bandit Hero Stele in modern times have formed a profound cultural connotation of Qishan.
